Below are the recommended college courses that high school students can complete as participants in Hawaiʻi’s Dual Credit Program, which includes Early College (EC) and Running Start (RS) programs.
The following identified course will meet degree requirements for each track (2-year associate degree or 4-year bachelor degree) and may reduce a student's time to degree completion. These courses can be taken in partnership with any University of Hawaiʻi Community College (UHCC) Campus and aligns generally with all of the HIDOE IT Pathway Programs of Study. For UHCC campus and program of study specific EC courses, please see college campus pages. It is highly recommended that students reach out to their high school counselor and/or a postsecondary counselor/advisor at the UH campus prior to enrolling in any early postsecondary opportunities (including EC and RS).
General education courses required for MOST 2 and 4 year programs:
- ENG 100 Composition I
- MATH 100 Survey of Mathematics OR
- MATH 115 Introduction to Statistics OR
- MATH 134 (same as MATH 135 at UH community colleges)
- **Take MATH 140 or MATH 241 if placed via math placement exam
- PSY 100 Survey of Psychology
General education SCIENCE courses that are required for MOST 2 and 4 year programs:
- HDFS 230 Human Development
- PHYL 141 Human Anatomy and Physiology I
- PHYL 141 Human Anatomy and Physiology I LAB
- MICRO 130 General Microbiology
